Union Public Service Commission, which is an executive body of Indian Government, conducts the civil service examination every year. Results of 2016’s batch is to be declared one month after the completion of interviews of candidates, who got qualified for the personality test after clearing the mains exam in December last year.
UPSC 2016‘s Preliminary exam was held on 7th August. Mains exam was conducted in the month of December. The written commenced on 3rd December and lasted for five days. The commission announced the results of mains exam in the month of February this year. List of selected candidates, who were qualified for the interview (personality test), revealed on the official website.
The commission then sent call-letters to the respective candidates, who cleared the mains exam. The schedule of interview started on 20th March and is going to be ended in the month of April this year. The final results of selected candidates is more likely to be declared in the month of May. The UPSC Board hasn’t unveiled the date of results’ announcement. It will soon reveal the same on its official website.
The interview schedule of candidates, who got through the written exam (mains exam), began from 20th March this year. After the completion of personality tests of all mains-qualified candidates in April month, UPSC analysed the total scores of all candidates. The score of Preliminary Exam was not taken into account while preparing the final result.
The UPSC board is going to upload the PDF (Portable Document Format) of final results on its official website. Candidates, who attempted the Personality Test conducted in the month of March, have to login into their accounts on the portal and download the PDF. Candidates can also just check the result online by reading the PDF.
About UPSC Exam
The civil service examination is conducted every year by the Union Public Service Commission. There are three stages of this national level exam. First stage is the ‘Preliminary Exam’. Around nine to ten lakh candidates apply for this exam by filling up the online application forms. Nearly four to five lakh candidates sit for the preliminary test.
The second stage of this examination is ‘Mains Exam’. About fifteen thousands candidates, who qualify the Prelim exam, appear for the mains exam. This is a written exam which is of 1750 marks. Candidates, who clear the mains exam, are called for the third and last phase of this exam – ‘UPSC Interview’.
The third stage of this exam is also called as ‘Personality Test’, which is of 225 marks. About two thousands candidates from the mains exam’s qualifiers are called for the ‘Personality Test’, which is held in the Office of the Union Public Service Commission at Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi-110069.
According to the yearly vacancies for IAS, IPS, IFS, IFoS, IRS, IRTS and many other services in Government of India (GoI), final selection of the candidates is done after the personality test.
